Another major and international event is underway: the GIS Week 2018. This year is the second year of GIS event which will be held in Indonesia. After being hosted by University of Indonesia (UI) in 2017, this year, BINUS University is chosen to be the host of GIS Week 2018! This year’s topic is about “Geographical Information System Application in Big Data Era”.
There are 6 big events of GIS Week 2018 at BINUS University Alam Sutera, there are:
1. GIS Technology Exploration
Gis Week also creates learning classes called GIS Technology Exploration so you get the opportunity to develop and improve your skills with the latest technology, interactive learning classes where you can get best practice advice, product support, and ArcGIS tips and tricks that certainly make you are increasingly interested. GIS Technology Exploration also invites technology experts who are ready to guide you. This event will open classes for 3 categories, namely Geo-Science Class, Developer Class, and Business Analyst Class.
2. GIS Industry Forum
Industry Forum is a highly interactive event that offers valuable opportunities to connect and collaborate with fellow decision makers and GIS experts in the industrial sector. Speakers and panelists at Industry Forum event will come from subject experts in certain industries. Highly recommended events because this program offers valuable opportunities to connect with industry players directly, and collaborate with fellow decision makers and GIS experts that fit your industry. Natural Resources, Businesss, and Smart City are various industries that will share their knowledge in GIS Week 2018.
3. GIS Workshop
With the theme “Implementing GIS into Real Life with ArcGIS Platforms” this event is targeted to the general public with the aim of providing information and knowledge on how to implement GIS technology in determining location. Participants are able to try to directly make smartphone-based applications with ArcGIS Platform, the workshop will be lead by Esri Indonesia.
4. GIS Talkshow
“The Golden Thread of Industry of 4.0 GIS and Transformation of Technology in Indonesia” and “Big Data, A Big Driver in The Future of Actionable Intelligence” is targeted at the general public with the aim of providing insight and knowledge about the role of GIS technology in development urban in the present. The talkshow will present national speakers from the government, the private sector, as well as academics who are experienced in their fields.
In the talkshow, experts from the public, private and technological sectors, as well as academics unite to discuss some of the most important topics in this era. This is your chance to meet directly with experts who are ready to answer your questions about spatial technology and how you can apply it to the sector where you work!
5. GIS Gallery
GIS Gallery is an exhibition of the latest technology used by various industries, creative solutions created by students, the GIS community and Esri. Mobile applications, web-based solutions, and VR technologies related to GIS will also be displayed in the GIS Gallery. The technology exhibition will assist participants in understanding the role of the geographic information system.
6. GIS Hacks
For those of you who like to make applications, this is the one that you should not miss! GIS Hacks is a national competition among students, ranging in age 15 to 25, with the theme “Location Intelligence Solutions” based on the ArcGIS platform. Then the jury from Esri will choose and invite the five best teams to come to Bina Nusantara University and get the opportunity to be employed by leading companies. Then the winners will be announced during the closing ceremony on October 26.
GIS Week will be held on 24-26 October 2018, and by participating there will be several benefits, including:
