Universal Health Coverage (UHC) is one of the most concerns in SDGs 3 especially for countries with wide rural areas. It requires innovative solutions tailored for the challenging issues on various aspects of: low resource environment, people literacy and regulation.

This workshop presents how affordable health technology is designed to support the UHC. Particularly, those powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) can support healthcare equity in regions with limited financial and supporting technology resources.

We will highlight the role of AI model compression techniques such as quantization, pruning, and knowledge distillation that enable the deployment of diagnostic and decision-support tools on affordable, low-power devices.

Designed for technologists, health professionals, and policymakers alike, this workshop provides practical insights and real-world case studies on how frugal innovation and inclusive design can bring intelligent healthcare solutions to the last mile—supporting the global mission of UHC in a sustainable and scalable way.
