DEVELOPMENT OF WEB BASED CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM WORKFLOW AT BINA NUSANTARA UNIVERSITY

In a growing organization, Information Technology based system has been the most important thing. By using information technology an organization can reduce cost in time, effort and money. Even more if the organization had a high needs in data in multiple places simultaneously. According to Reina (2010) in her journal regarding usage of web application in Student Service Center (SSC) of Bina Nusantara University, the web application can increase of efficiency in time and resources for making documents. Also the web application reduce the human-error and increase effectivity in the making of the documents.

Therefore a web application can be the best solution to replace a manual data entry and managements. Using a web application makes the data stored safely and able to be managed remotely anytime and anywhere by any stakeholders. Compared to the manual system, digitalized system can reduce risk of data loss, increase productivity.

Bina Nusantara University was founded in early era of computer and web based technology where every business process was handled manually by administrators. By time passing by Bina Nusantara University starts to computerized the data storage and managements. Most of the business process has been computerized, but there was a business process that still using a manual data entry and managements that was their Content Management System for higher education.

Content Management System (CMS) have very important role in business process in Bina Nusantara University. It covers all courses materials, information and outlines for every schools and faculties in Bina Nusantara University. CMS provides an integrated system to conduct collaborated course development between lecturers, schools or faculties and Academic Resource Center (ARC) staff.

 

Because of this very important role, the CMS must be robust and reliable. With manual data entry and managements as stated above, there is a high chance of human error will happen and also mean a lot of effort too. To minimize these errors and efforts, the CMS must be digitalized and systemized.
