International ICT Conferences 2022

BINUS’ School of Computer Science and School of Information Systems, in collaboration with the College of Computer and Information Sciences, Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), held the “International ICT Conferences 2022” via zoom from August 2^nd – 5^th, 2022. This activity is an international level event aimed at undergraduate students between BINUS and PUP . This conference aims to promote, strengthen, and mainstream research outputs of the students in higher education institutions (HEIs) in the fields of computing, information systems and technology.  It will provide a venue for sharing and discussion of students’ research output in a scholarly but friendly environment as well as the best platform in building networks and linkages of the two universities.   This conference was attended around 500 participants.

Assoc. Prof. Ria A. Sagum from PUP was invited as the MC for this conference . BINUS Global Director, Dr. Diah Wihardini  opened the conference by giving a speech. Prof. Dr. Tirta N, Mursitama, Ph.D., Vice Rector Research and Technology Transfer Bina Nusantara University delivered his “Inspirational Message” to all participants, He encoraged the participants to enjoy the ongoing conference and hoped  that the participants will get inspiration for future research and also they can collaborate it. President  Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Dr. Manuel M. Muhi welcomed the participants on the success of the activity through his representative Dr. Benilda Eleonor V. Comendador.

Dr. Benilda Eleonor V. Comendador from PUP moderated the first and second keynote speaker, while Ms. Irene Anindaputri Iswanto, S.Kom., M.Sc.Eng  from BINUS  moderated the third and fourth keynote speaker. The keynote speakers were Dr. Erwin Halim from the School of Information Systems, BINUS University; Dr. Illuminada Vivien R. Domingo and Dr. Aleta C. Fabregas from the Department of Information Technology, College of Computer and Information Sciences, PUP; and Dr. Dany Eka Saputra from the School of Computer Science, BINUS University. The topic presented by the keynote speaker was very interesting, as seen from the enthusiasm of the participants in asking questions.

IICTC also presented Parallel Forum Sessions on the second and third days where presenting students shared their views, results, and  experiences  of their research. The moderators are students and several lecturers from both campuses were panelists. The participants of the parallel forum show their enthusiasm through the question-and-answer session. In the final day of the conference, 12 papers are selected and announced as “Best Paper Presentation”, 6 papers coming from BINUS and 6 papers coming from PUP.

Dr. Anna Ruby P. Gapasin, Vice President for Research, Extension, Planning, and Development of PUP gave a closing remark. Dr. Ir. Derwin Suhartono, S. Kom., MTI., Head of Computer Science Department also gave a closing remark at the end of the event on the fourth day and continued with cultural exchange activities from both campuses led by student associations from both campuses.

This international conference is one of the events where students can gain new insights and make new connections. It is expected that this activity will become a strategic event for students to develop their potential. This conference is also expected to strengthen cooperation between BINUS and PUP so that similar conferences can be held in the future and research collaboration can be expanded.
