INTRODUCTION OF NETWORK
Communication Model
Data communications refers to the transmission of this digital data between two or more computersandacomputernetworkordatanetworkisatelecommunicationsnetworkthatallows computers to exchange data. The physical connection between networked computing devices is established using either cable media or wireless media. The best-known computer network is theInternet.
Data communication is a combination of two techniques:
- Telecommunications
communication over a distance by cable, telegraph, telephone, or broadcasting. - Data Processing
a series of operations on data, especially by a computer, to retrieve, transform, or classify information.
Component of Communication Model :
- Sender : Generates data signal that must be transmitted, converts data signal into signal that can be transmitted
- Medium : Carries data signal
- Data : Data to be sent
- Receiver : Converts received signal to data
- Protocol : Rules
Data Communication Model
Protocol must be same. Its like language , must be same so receiver can understand the message from sender
Switching Techniques
- Circuit Switching
Communication path between sender and receiver not changed during the exchange of information. - Packet Switching
–Using Store & Forward principles.
–Data could be sent out of sequence.
–Data divided to small packets for transmission.
–Packets sent via several nodes before arriving to its destination
