Town of Salem is a browser game that you can play for free. This game is literally a role-playing game. The player will get assign to one role every time a set of game starts. You must complete the objectives of that role, either survive, kill, or get killed.

            Town of Salem has a lot of roles. These roles can be classified to a few categories and then classified to other categories. The game works on a Day-Night time basis. At Day, the people can talk to everyone and are given the chance to vote for someone to be lynched. At Night, some role can do their action. In Night time, there is also Full Moon Nights.

            The suspicious person can only be lynched if the voters reach at least half the number of people alive. When a person is tried, the get a chance to defend himself by trying to convince that his role is not criminals or evildoers. After defending, the other people can vote innocent, guilty, or abstain from voting. If the amount of guilty is higher than innocent, then the suspect got lynched. The suspect’s role will then be revealed.

            Each person has the ability to write a “will”. This “will” will be revealed if that person got killed or lynched. However, if a certain role does something, the role and the “will” won’t be revealed.

            First is “Townies” or Town Roles. All 15 roles have one common goal: “Lynch every criminals and evildoers.” “Townies” are the “good” people in this game.

  1. Town Investigative
    1. Investigator: Investigate one person at Night for a clue to their role.
    2. Lookout: Watch one person at Night to see who visits them.
    3. Sheriff: Check one person at Night for suspicious activity.
    4. Spy: Listen to the Mafia’s conversations at night and listen to whispers.
  2. Town Killing
    1. Jailor: Choose one person at Day to be jailed at Night
    2. Vampire Hunter: Check for Vampires at Night.
    3. Veteran: Decide if you go on alert and kill anyone who visits you.
    4. Vigilante: Choose to shoot someone.

*Both Vigilante will die of guilt if they kill “townies”.

  1. Town Protective
    1. Bodyguard: Protect one person at Night.
    2. Doctor: Heal one person at Night, prevent them from dying.
  2. Town Support
    1. Escort: Distract someone at Night.
    2. Mayor: Gain 3 votes when you reveal yourself as Mayor.
    3. Medium: Speak with all dead people at Night.
    4. Retributionist: Revive one dead “townie”.
    5. Transporter: Choose two people to be swapped at Night.

Second is “Mafia”. 9 roles with one common goal: “Kill all who will not submit to the Mafia”. The members of “Mafia” can speak to each other at Night.

  1. Mafia Deception
    1. Disguiser: Choose a target to disguise yourself as.
    2. Forger: Choose a person and rewrite their last “will”.
    3. Framer: Choose one person to frame each Night.
    4. Janitor: Clean a dying person each Night.
  2. Mafia Killing
    1. Godfather: Kill someone at Night.
    2. Mafioso: Kill someone at Night.
  3. Mafia Support
    1. Blackmailer: Choose one person at Night to blackmail
    2. Consigliere: Check one person for their exact role each Night
    3. Consort: Distract someone at Night.

Third is “Neutral” roles. They have different goal. Some of them are compatible to win with other roles.

  1. Amnesiac: Remember who you are by selecting a role from graveyard.
  2. Survivor: Put a bulletproof vest at Night, protect yourself from attack.
  3. Vampire: Convert other to Vampire each Night.
  4. Executioner: Trick the people to lynch your target.
  5. Jester: Trick the people to lynch you.
  6. With: Control someone at Night.
  7. Arsonist: Douse someone in gas or ignite all doused target.
  8. Serial Killer: Kill someone at Night.
  9. Werewolf: Transform into Werewolf during Full Moon.

This game is great for those who like to use word to mislead people. Other than the game, it also has shop. In the Shop, you can buy skin, house, theme, pets, or scrolls. Scrolls can be used to increase your chance of getting certain roles.
